I have first decided to develop my project by combining two
different types of printing. I started off with creating some really
interesting mono-prints and I then made a dry point plate out of acetate to surround
the marks off the mono prints, I have then printed this over the top. The only
issue with this method is that you can't replicate a mono- print so you only
have one opportunity to get it right and you can't improve it. I think that
this method is really interesting and effective, but it's very hard to refine
and develop in the way I want.
I have then used the collagraph plate that I created before,
but have now experimented with just inking certain parts and leaving the
others, this created different layers. I used a brush to paint on the ink which
left marks which didn't look good. I think that I need to refine this method
and make some more plates of different sizes. I would like to make the plate
out of actual letters to link it further into my project with the patterns that
I have also been experimenting with in my sketchbook. I think it will also be
quite interesting to use straight lines.
