Ala Ebtekar- Untitled-2012 |
Ala Ebtekar
Ebtekar lives and works in America, the work is really
detailed and intricate and they look as if they are inspired by the night sky.
I like the way that there is allot of white space around the drawing because it
makes you concentrate on the drawing. The shape of the drawing almost it quite
tribal, like a traditional pieces of jewelry it's very decorative. There is defiantly
a cultural influence. I think that working really small might be a way forward.
William Kentridge- Tree- 2013 |
William Kentridge
This piece caught my eye because of the scale and also the
way that it is presented horizontally. This makes it look like its been made
this way, on the floor and Kentridge
hasn't been to precious in the marks that have been made. It reminds me of Jackson Pollock's drip paintings in the way the ink has been applied., but then it has been drawing into it to make it more detail and also this sort of tone. I think that the gold lines in there help create another dimension and depth to the drawing.

Margherita Manzelli
I have looked at these drawings because they are photo-realistic but there is something not quite right with them, they are
really creepy and the heads are out of proportion. They seem to be quite simple
images, but just emphasizing on specific parts of the figure. The figures are
actually herself and are reflections on her past work as a performance artist.
